Impact on School Award

May 19, 2019

Who is wrong here? Is it the school or The Award provider? Case study from parent on his observation. I would like to share the ill practices followed by few schools and they hardly bothered about the emotions and affordability of the parents. I don’t mean that all schools work in the same way but few are causing damage to our education system entirely and creating huge profit margins in their businesses. I believe schools and educators have much bigger responsibilities than anyone else in this country. Some of the problems that needs to be addressed are: 1. One school (XXX) has not even completed one full academic year, but the school have been awarded (purchased by school management) as “Ranked No-1 in India under the Top CBSE Schools” even this school has not received CBSE affiliation, they are using as an achievement and spending huge money for marketing. Is this school sacking money from parents? Is this school enticing parents showing their unfinished infrastructure? Is this school misguiding parents? 2. One more school (XXX) putting hoardings on roads as “Most Awarded School in Telangana” On what base they received the awards?

Are the school putting effort on students for value education? Are all the parents happy towards educational standards? Is the school attracting parents… showing infrastructure like swimming pool and large ground and paid awards? Because of these type of commercial Ads and business Oriented schools, the actual service oriented schools could not able to survive in the society. As per my understanding schools are only misguiding parents and students. There is no proper understanding and no proper counselling from schools. Simply schools are investing on infrastructure and expecting admission to fill the campus. Now a days if we can see, there is no difference between star hotels and better infrastructure schools. Every school target is to get admissions in the first year to fill the campus. Actually for any school it will take minimum 2 years to 5 years to get full flow of admissions and get good name. But many schools are mesmerising, cheating, misguiding parents for admissions due to which the schools could not able to maintain trust in the society. Schools are not maintaining teacher student ratio as they committed in the initial days: There is no transparency between parent and school and they can change their commitments and promises, they can change rules in closed room and this has no justification against the expense they are incurring. All schools are governed by trusts and these trusts are non-profit organizations on paper. They can increase fee and they can increase class strength at any point of time! There remains no ambiguity that the Education System is the backbone of our country and if not handled properly it will spoil future generations. So reforming the education system should be the utmost priority. My opinion is we need to standardise our education system framework keeping all stakeholders in mind otherwise we will not be able to give quality and affordable education. My final concern is every educator should realize for make difference in education as service not a product to spend lot of money for marketing, hoardings and publicity with different titles… instead of that, the schools can give better counselling (not for admissions) to parents and students and can guide better for life skills and values and career guidance.
